Thursday Challenge – 10 – Post2

Theme for this week:

“RED” (Fruit, Vegetables, Flowers, Clothing, Hair, Makeup, Wine, Toys,…)

There are some things which are etched in your memories forever. And one such thing for me is a road filled with trees blooming with Gulmohar on both sides.  We used to stay in Dad’s official quarters in school and this place was like heaven. Imagine huge mansions in the city of Bengaluru with lot’s of trees including Mango, Jackfruit, Guava, Coconut, Pomegranate  etc.. in your own garden. I know I know, I just can’t stop once I start talking about that place 🙂 Have already written about it before, but it never gets over 🙂

Our favourite pastime then, once we return from school was to go cycling to Dad’s company Guest House about a km or 2 away. This place was reserved for their honourable guests, but we kids were always welcome there 😀 And we used to feel so proud with that 5-star treatment we received. This place had a nice pond with ducks and lotuses in varied colours in full bloom and also housed cute rabbits and other such animals.  I don’t remember a single day when we would not visit the Guest House. A few years on our cycles and then on our Mom’s TVS, Luna Super etc.. 😉  – A gang of about 10 we were .

Now, this route from home to the Guest House was filled with Gulmohar trees and that visual treat of the red shelter above us with that pleasing sky blue peeping through is something that has stayed with me ever since.  ‘RED’ always means this nostalgic drive down the Gulmohar lane for me.  And so, here are some random clicks of my favourite blooms clicked sometime back in Hyderabad 🙂

And this one, was a part of my header once upon a time – one that inspired me enough to start a dedicated page for headers 🙂

  6. (The last photo)

    She looks on
    wisely,
    from her perch,
    at the profusion
    of color all around her.

    Nods at the
    green of the leaves,
    and the sturdy brown
    as she grips it
    firmly;
    she bobs her head
    and a thought
    seems to move
    down the
    blue tinted esophagus…..

    Like her,
    some things
    must remain
    plain,
    grey
    and understanding
    so that
    other brighter folks
find their places in the Sun ……

Any gubbachchi photos in your archives? 🙂 Like the gubbachchis the best, for their energy and squeaking. Starting to see them at Bengaluru again.
