What an idea Madamji!

My iron-woman hd come home today morning to collect the clothes. She asked me for a few sheets of newspaper, they place them between the ironed layers na. I told her that we don’t buy newspaper @ home. Ya, we save paper and a few bucks that way 😉 😉 Also, we r running hither-thither in the morning to finish up everything and head to work and return home late enuf to read the news for the day. So, its usually online or the hard copy @ office during tea-time.

So, she tells me … pls keep those sheets you take out intact and return to me the next time .. u know most of the people pull it out in a hurry, crumple it and throw it off immediately. Its better I reuse it right .. helps me and we can save paper too. She did bring a smile on my face today .. so yay! There r ppl who do their bit  🙂

On the same note, the new Idea ad: Use Mobile, Save Paper …. awesome isn’t it 🙂

Gud that we r blogging rt … we do hv a personal diary and we save paper too 😀

  3. Iron woman! Last time I heard that name was when Margaret Thatcher was PM of the U.K. hehehe…nice post, makes one aware of the environment with new ideas. I wish that boarding cards via cell phones become a reality. It may work in other countries, India I am not sure. In other countries, one needs to just present an ID card at the check in counter to get the printed boarding card. Only in India, they need to see a printed copy of your E ticket even at the entrance door of the terminal otherwise they won’t even let you in to the check in counter. (How can it be E-Ticket if you are going to print it????). Of course India has security concerns. Not that no one else in the World is safe anymore. So, I guess the phone ad is a gimmick that will not happen in India for a long time.

  4. I loved your Iron-Woman’s idea but didn’t like the idea of IDEA mobile at all. I am a pen and paper person and can’t imagine reading books and newspapers on mobile or even on the laptop 😡 Any ways people are so hooked on to mobliles these days…all the time texting, talking and what not?? So I would suggest we come up with an idea against excessive mobile usage too 😀 which by the way is one of the leading causes of road accidents in USA 😦

    1. I can’t read books online too .. but I wud say books is still diff Saksh .. the amount of paper thrown arnd ..its sad 😦

And mobile .. its left to us rt .. the usage 🙂 I wud still prefer if things like tickets and even the account transactions are only over the wireless .. I do get my account statements only over email and thatz something better than the sheets of paper being printed 🙂

  5. Good one Swaram.

Most people in previous generation knew recycling as part of growing up. Somehow we started moving to disposables mainly for ease of use. Now all the publicity about recycling is kind of striving to go back to the basics. People like your iron woman, do lot of recycling in their day to day life mainly because of necessity or lack of resources. If only everyone learnt to preserve too.

  12. Absolutely true. Even I used to save those sheets of paper and give it back to the lady to keep in between the clothes.

In Chennai, there is no such practise of keeping paper inside clothes. More saving, I believe.

Yeah, all the IDEA ads are gud. Love the tag line – What an idea sirji !!! 🙂

  15. that ad is awesome and we do the same with the paper… the paper in middle of the dresses is promptly folded and kept to give it back to the iron man who comes to collect the clothes

  16. ya we all need to do our own bit… appreciate her thinking 🙂

but well i really don’t think using mobile would lessen the environmental damage… and reading an e paper causes more carbon emission and more destruction than reading a newspaper… frankly that idea is questionable 🙂 … but well the concern is commendable 🙂

    1. Well, I can’t say that seeing the no. of sheets thrown away everywhere 😦
The trash cans @ the ATMs and the ones @ restaurants r always overflowing 😦 There must be something done .. the no. of trees cut for so many papers stands above all the damage.

The ad hs a msg that we hv got to use less paper .. whether it is by using mobile which ws their subject or any other thing is left to us .. we do need a substitute though 🙂

While we hv ‘n’ tabs to read ‘n’ blogs and websites, hw much will a single news website cost though?
