Fair?
Dad, Mom n Sis with a bigggg group of family and friends are off on a long vacation next month .. Delhi,Agra, Gulmarg, Fatehpur Sikri, Amritsar, Vaishno Devi, Mathura, Vrindavan and many more.In-laws are off to Haridwar for the Kumbh Mela. I just pray to God that they always have this enthu in life. Its nice to see that they are so independent, that they believe in living life to the fullest. I have heard many ppl say .. whatz there in life now? Kids r settled, we r just counting days and hoping they pass on well. I used to be scared sometimes as to what if my parents start living the same way? I like it this way.
Shaan is performing live in Hyderabad as part of ‘SMOOTH HYDERABAD’ MegaConcert on the 6th of March. The ‘Royal Challenge’ team, sponsors of the event visited our office premises on Friday and hosted a few games and if we were lucky enuf, we would win passes to the event. And guess what, I won two passes! Yay! I sang ‘Tanha Dil’ in my ahem … sweet voice and dedicated it to Shaan and my dear co-workers and that was enuf to get me the free passes
One of my bestest friends in Hyderabad .. remember, she had relocated to Dilli sometime bk? She is bk in Hyderabad for good and I am sooooo happy abt it
What more? She is expecting too and I am looking forward to have lotz of fun with the kiddo
We met her the last Sunday and we were yapping away to glory on all that we had missed the past few months
Unfair?
9 out of 10 times that my maid is on leave, well almost, the reason she has is that she was subjected to some maar-peet from her husband. I really feel she has to do something abt it but she pushes it away every-time saying that she can’t do anything about it!!!!! Worst thing is that he does it in front of the 3 kids, one of them a teenager and she told me he tried to hit her too sometime bk! How can we be such hypocrites that the pics of so many goddesses adorn our Puja Room and the one @ home is treated this way? Is Maar-Peet a form of Puja for such men? I told her not to give him the money she earns but spend it judiciously and she thinks its some form of atyachar!!!! Su was helping me with doing the dishes one day and she told me its ‘Paapa Karma’ to get help from ur ‘Pati-Deva’. Tell me how do u even tell this lady its not ok to be tortured?
Hmm….fair if u know how to live it
On the other hand, the maid @ my Mom’s place, who was sailing in the same boat, has decided that she has had enough and is walking out. Tired of a husband who hardly goes to work, who drinks all the time and does nothing for her and the kids, she has decided to move away with the kids and is confident she can look after them on her own. And the best part is that her aunt is helping her move out and she is gonna stay close to their place. Nice change from those families where they preach a wife’s place is in her husband’s home and so on. A strong woman that she is, she is not giving in to any of his saccharine-sweet words. She even got her niece remarried when her husband passed away just few days after the wedding, in circumstances where the man’s family cursed the girl, her stars and everything possible for the misfortunehap. She fought with them and got back all that they had given the girl in the form of cash/kind. I think we need more women like her no?
first..
Oh wow! I just hit the Publish button!
Congrats for the passes.. I am feeling J about u because shaan is my favourite singer and i just love his smile..Anyway, have fun there.
I also feel sad about these ladies, but if they are stubborn not to listen to anyone, then we can just sit and watch. Thats all we can do.. I had a maid in my earlier house. She had got problem with her husband and left him and she got remarried and now she is leading a happy life. I just felt so happy about her.
Oh I find him a very warm, down-to-earth person too
Will try to get smiling pics for u
Its so nice that ur maid is in a nice position nw no
Top#5.
2nd u r
Congo for winning the tickets. But, I guess you have to go to Cuttak/Bangalore to avail eh?. No matches in Cyberabad?.
Those maids coming from old school and with traditional values would find it hard to separate from their “BELOVED” husbands lol. The social stigma is too much for them to handle seperation and morever answering the society. Anyway, the empowerment for them can’t do much. What;s the guarantee that after re-marriage solutions would be found?. What’s the guarantee she would be happy being alone or with some aunt/XYZ?. The problem lies in the core thinking itself. Not the empowerment or escaping from it. To make the long story short, solution is not easy for many. Those who take it may not be really enjoying their life.
IPL tickets alla pa .. this is Shaan’s music concert in Hyderabad
There may be no guarantee that u mite be happy anytime in that case, but hw will u know if u don’t give it a try? Atleast, she hs been waiting that her husband will change, but that hs not happened all these yrs. So, she is moving on in life
OMG…Am I in the Race for hitting comments :-p
Hmm hmmm am sure you must be in sevent heaven for those passes……So very cool hey!
N I know its indeed great when we know that our parents are happy and leading a life even as the children grow up n fly out of their nests!
So here is to more happy days n happy songs…
Ha ha .. cool
3rd u r
Ha ha eh .. anything muft is gr8
Thanks for the wishes dear
So sweet of u
Different post. Its like chow chow
Though I had almost started thinking ‘here comes another one’ when you started about maid husband beating. But you shook me from my revere by mentioning your mom’s maid who is walking out. Kudos to her. Se we can only take a horse to water, cant make it drink. So take the horse to water, meaning, let her know that its her life and she has a right to live it happily, husband is not everything in life, esp when he is being so cruel and unloving. Tell her about the practicalities and realities of today and wake her up from her 18th century thinking. Then its her to wake up or go back to sleep.
And yay to your parents n inlaws going on trips. Hope they have a safe and happy trip
Like aa
Exactly that
Done all that Lively and we hv even spoken to that wild husband of hers!!!! En madadu helhu
Thanks for the wishes
You can do nothing else but ignore. When women are ready to suffer then what can someone do to help?
Hmmm
Lovely header!
Thank u
Ooooh!! Lucky you!!
) .
Am so jealous!! My father had organized a Shaan-night for his golf club in B’lore a few years back. Nedless to say, we had free invites.
But, BUT, me was firmly stuck in Pune and piled with loads of work. Bro was kind enough to let me hear a few songs live from his cell.
I LOVE Shaan’s voice (and, *ahem*, him too
Enjoy madi
Oh u hv heard him live? Hw ws it ?
Ahem gud choice
Wow! you seem all ready for some fun packed music night. Hope you have a fantastic time!!
You are very right, the spirit of enjoying life no-matter what age you reach makes it all the more pleasant. Hope your family has a great travel time
Great to learn that your mum’s maid took a bold step and walked out of an abusive relationship
Have lots of fun and do share pictures from the concert
Will def. share the pics CB .. thanks a lot for all the wishes
Oh wow! Love Shaan
m really J now .. actually there’s a Shaan live show in B’lore on 5th.. but we’ll be in Mysore .. Baaaaaaaaaaad
And parents living their life doing their own thing is really nice
And.. yes.. life is hard sometimes due to the circumstances.. but many a times its the people who make it unfair for themselves by not accepting realities and refusing to let go of old school thoughts and values!
Oh I thot the Blr one got postponed no?
U r rt P .. they r the ones who make it unfair
Oh.. is it? didnt follow up since there ws no chance of going.. when we return.. Ammu’s exams will start
Oh ok .. wil let u know if I get some info
A correction:
Nice change from those families where they preach a wife’s place is in her husband’s home and so on.
it should be
Nice change from those families where they preach a wife’s place is at her husband’s feet and so on.
And hey! talk about traveljunkie parents. Mine just came back from the Andamans.
Ha ha .. I thot there is some promotion there
No? Sad then
Wowww! Andamans is on my wishlist for sooo long .. waiting for travel stories G
Congrats for passes

I luv taking anyting which you got for free
And I m also firm of believer of spirit of enjoying life instead of counting days…Kudos to ur inlaws
Ha ha very true
Awesome!
Wow! U too
You should take one more vacation in parallel with theirs, to erase any doubt of ‘Fair?’ in you.
Pati-Deva? LOL. No wonder they are foot-carpeted and walked all over.
But that culture is slowly going away. Their kids go to school and are not subject to be brainwashed into subservience. (kai eththudhaarey, thiruga channaagi koduthaare, ee kaaladha huduga/hudugiyaruu)
You are a concert magnet.
Enjoy the show.
LOL .. I know
I am feeling totally J that I cud nt join them
Ya RamMmm .. things r changing; but such things remind us that they do exist in b/w
Eegina gen thumba munde vardidare bidi .. nt sure for gud or bd or both adre
Super congrats on the passes!
Have fun! I love Shaan and his voice and his smile… sigh!!
God Bless your parents, sis, and in-laws! Hope they have a safe and fun trip!
Yea, one can’t argue with that kind of logic – one can try though.
Good for the lady who is walking away…
Swaru, educated people don’t walk away from such relationships… its kind of difficult to expect maids to do the same…
LOL .. U too
Thanks for the wishes
U r rt Pixu .. I am nt saying i expect her to walk out .. but she cn def. control alva? Y give all that money to him ?
the shaan concert in blore is postponed due to some reasons
and i really feel helpless when these maids come back beaten black and blue, encourage her to keep talking to u… telling her husband to stop… if u get to see her husband tell him too
its a sad situation
Ya I heard so .. nt sure y though
Me too Mons … we hv tried all of it
Spoken to her husband too and Su even told him hw we ppl divide all responsibilities b/w the two of us in a way he cud understand .. or prob we thought so
He nodded his head and hs reverted bk to the same old thing
Lucky you! I wanted to attend the show too, but I have my mom and sis visiting, so passed it. The exact thing I said to myself was ‘ Umm, I like Shaan, but not as much as Sonu Nigam or Rehman, so it’s ok’. Sour grapes?
You know, I think all of us have heard of these kind of stories from our maids. Infact, one time, our then maid’s husband came over, called her out, and slapped her! My MIL who was at home at the time, got him thrown out immediately! So very scary. We do need more women who can stand up against these atrocities!
Ha ha .. Rahman is the best
Shaan is next
I missed Sonu’s as we went to Zakir Hussain’s that day .. u attended? Hw ws it?
Sheesh! Hw cud that fella do so @ another place?
No, I didn’t attend that either
I have a prety much empty record when it comes to attending concerts.
Oh ! everyone is going on vacation these days !!! i take this as a cue to plan my own
but i donno when
and you are definitely right. we need more women like that who knows that they should not be taken for granted like that! Just the shock of not being there daily (about the one who decided to leave home) might change the menfolk some times. If not, well and good , you know you can survive alone!
Ha ha .. do plan one soon
U r abs.rt …. it shud atleast get them to realize the importance of these women in their life!
wow i love your family’s itinerary Swar. Gulmarg also! my dream is to visit that place sometime in my life. Valley of flowers comes next. I wish your folks a happy time
kudos to that lady. may she lead a better life from now
and Congrats on winning tickets
tanha dil and all eh.. sing for me the next time I call you pleeeej
and for once I am not jealous about you going to the concert heee.. I kinda dislike him :p yah ok I hate him.
Valley of flowers u know alva .. me too
and I am totally J of them .. sad we cud nt make it with them
LOL .. u will never call me again
hey, lucky gal for the passes. n Shaan is to die for.. his voice i mean…
God bless them!
I just saw ur mail id nw
hw did u get to know btw?
Ha ha got it
my folks too are pretty independent and live in a senior citizens complex and have a life of their own, happy doing their own thing. n they travel like crazy . every month/ 2 months ,all over india, some wedding, some function, some emergency so on and so forth. touch wood.
Aww thatz so sweet
Maid abuse story is a common feature here too, with no solution really, until they wanna take things in their own hands and make a difference.
Hmm very true
n BTW, we do share a common 1st name i think.
Oh yaaaa we do
hey..I’m glad you are my buddy and i love your blog!
http://softypinkngloriousred.wordpress.com/2010/03/03/i-am-fascinated/
Thanks a lot P
wow…swaram…shaans concert..i love him and his music…
Next post awaited on that…
Ooh lucky lil Swaram won two passes!! Yay yay!!
Shaan is so cute no ? Always smiling and such a lovely voice.
Ya … luv his dimples
My parents are on a footloose trip too! And yes, I too am relieved they are not sitting back and sighing away to glory. That is good for their physical and emotional happiness!!
So so true
Have you noticed when we talk about unfair situations, the victims of unfairness are almost always the weaker and poorer sections.
Sigh! Ya
I cannot imagine how your poor maid must be feeling from all that mar peet. I suggest she land a heavy rod on the hubby when he is sleeping, so he knows how it feels to be hit. Your mom’s maid has shown lots of courage and also brings home a point. If you have family backing you, you can move mountains!
Hw I wish she cud do that too! I don’t mind gng with her even
PS: Thanks for your welcome for my last comment … Cho chweet!
Aww dear .. nt as much as u r
oh dearie, forget maids, the guy who used to work at my office before, the one I replaced, used to come late to work with his face black/ble/swollen. His girlfriend beat him up everyday it seems
Sheesh! Another side of the same coin! Too bad
*Meira looks around for any visiting trolls*
My pleasure knowing u
LOL … thanks ma’am
Ahem, ok. My parents have decided that now both their daughters are married off, they can now go around the world without having to worry about them.
Ya I know .. all those stories sound familiar .. ur education, u wil be alone .. so many things
“Transferred worrying about you to your husbands’ is what mommy says
So its TS headache nw .. non-transferable @ that
One substitute maid was once shocked that the husband was folding clothes. Though I was shocked too…more because the husband is too lazy to do such stuff but I digress..
Ha ha ha
Oh well, my maid gave me unsalted pakodas for lunch today. So I am in a very MAID-UNFRIENDLY mood right now !!
Sheesh! Hw cud she
Not always, not for all – world is a nice place to live!
Hmm .. thatz y the fair part
Wow! Your family sounds very fun loving…that’s just the way to be!
And how nice that you’ll get to see Shaan live!!! I used t enjoy his earliest hit…love-olgy!I still enjoy his singing! Lucky you!!!
The helper that is leaving…great to hear she is taking her life back into her own hands! Emjoyed this post !!!!
Thanks Indy
Lol @meira… n i’m sooooooooooooo J . I love shaan
take loads of pics n pass them on here.
Sure sure
too bad to hear about your maid…hope she finds the strength and courage someday to stand up
and yes, love that your parents are living to the fullest. that’s how it should be
Thanks T .. ya, nt sure what I cn do
Hope your eye has healed well !!!
Yaa perfect
Thanks Ums
So glad that yours and Su’s parents are going to have a wonderful time !!! Thats the spirit of life !!! Age is no barrier to enjoy !!!
Are u missing the whole trip, with them ????
U know me too well, don’t u
Shaan’s performance !!! WOW !!! You are damn lucky, woman, winning 2 free passes by singing a song !!! Enjoy the concert !!! Maybe, Shaan will invite you on stage to sing the same song !!!
Ha ha ha
See the extremes in attitude among these two maids. But the brave one with your mom has taken a wise decision, by which she’ll be greatly benefited.
So true .. I hope this one takes some action too!
Enjoy the songs! And hope your family enjoys their travels!
Yes, I wonder what it is that makes a woman stand up for herself and walk out…it’s not the money, it’s not the education, it’s the self-respect I suppose.
Thanks Starry
I think u r rt .. its more abt self-respect
Aila…you are one hi fi concerty person around in this blogsphere
You sing too? Vimmu ka side effects?
Congrats on the passes and who is the lucky fella you are taking along?? psst…psst Su tho nahi woh?
Sigh, the maid thinks it’s paapa karma to get help from pati deva?
what kinda karma does she think it is when patni devi is yanked out of bed in the middle of the night for a cup of tea?
‘what kinda karma does she think it is when patni devi is yanked out of bed in the middle of the night for a cup of tea? ‘ – That is the patni’s duty! How can you even question it? What else are patnis for?
Makes one mad, na? This sort of thing..
Seriously!
LOL .. who else
I am such a Pati-vrata Sati no
‘Its nice to see that they are so independent, that they believe in living life to the fullest.’ – I so agree! I hope the same for my parents too! That the have the same zest for life.
Shaan concert! You are bent on making me jealous
LOL .. and what abt all that snow u talk abt
Your friend is back? Wow! Is she back for good? And do pass on my congratulations to her:) She must be super happy
Ya Smithu .. thanks a lot
Your maid’s story is heart-rending.. Seriously, how do you explain to a woman like her. Your mom’s maid is an inspiration.. How about telling your maid about her? Do you think that might help?
Hey! Thatz a nice idea! I think I shud try this one! Thanks so much Smithu
We certainly need more like her!
Only a word for your maid ..”Letting go is difficult, but you have to when your heart says to,it makes the world of difference”..
Well said Nimmy
Wow… you have got the passes by singing..
great Swaram
and I know.. your dad is so cool and I am sure they will live like this till the end
and for your maid.. all I wish is she has to find enough strength to move out of her husband…
He he thanks Kanagu
Ya, Dad is very cool .. I hope he always remains so too
I hope she gathers strength from all corners too!
Parents out and enjoying the world is such a blessing. Glad your parents are out travelling.
So very J for you get to go see Shaan live..Tanhaa dil is one of my fav songs..
It is so sad about the Maid..I see a lot of them getting out on their own these days..and am glad they are finding the strength to go on. Wishing the same for yours..
Well said Comfy .. its a blessing indeed
Oh wow! U too .. I like it too
I hope she follows suit too
its glad to read positive stories about women … glad that they are able to understand their place…
loved the positive note… even though their are instances where its impossible to make some people understand.
Hmm very true .. some such ppl do give us a ray of hope
Congrats gal for winning the tickets. I just loooooooove Shaan
And I am gonna punish you for making all of us J
you will have to write a loooong post on the concert and tell me which songs Shaan sang and which ones he did not etc. That will be your punishment!
Ha ha Kabool hai
Good thing that your parents n in-laws are enjoying their life. It is very important to enjoy.
Hmm
And about the maid, I dont know what to say for such women. But then its not so easy to raise kids without a husband too. Some amount of education and literacy might help.
Its being more diff. with him no .. kids do learn what they c rt
N ya, I don’t mean she hs to leave him and go and thatz the only solution; but, she shud nt be a silent prey no?
Agree with you Swaram. She must not keep quiet. She must really do something about it!!
I loved the way the posts written !!
Congrats for winning the tickets !!! so you are going for yet another concert without me, huh? and yes, please do not even think of calling me at midnight during the concert ! I am married now you see !!!
As for the maids, please copy paste my comment that I left at Smithas previous post !
Oh u did!! Woww! Thank my stars
LOL .. no more evening shifts nw eh
Okie .. just an SMS
Is that fine
Lemme go check out what that comments is?
LOL .. rich rich maid to be shuttling across the 7 seas
I love Shaan’s song, ‘tanha dil’ and you sang it and won passes, great, Swaram! Why don’t you sing and post like Vimmuuu, it will be nice!
Ha ha am afraid it won’t be nice Sandhya
‘How can we be such hypocrites that the pics of so many goddesses adorn our Puja Room and the one @ home is treated this way? ‘ Good question, but no answer, Swaram.
Hmmm
Your mom’s servant maid is the woman to be praised…please convey our best wishes to her.
Sure Sandhya … thanks a lot
Nice one, Swaram, enjoyed reading this.
Thanks a lot
Passes for your song, excellent.Enjoy the show.
I suppose most of those maids hv this kinda hubby only, most maide my mom had had the same problem.
Thank u
I think its more abt nt raising there voice against them
Really really really like the spirit of your parents & in-laws!!:-) Touch Wood!
Thanks a lot Ro
Do you know, Shaan’s concert in Blr got cancelled..Grr. I smell some conspiracy..Hyd is stealing Blr’s recreation avenues!!!
YOU, Swaram are responsible for it madam!:P
Ha ha ha …. I will get them bk with me when I return to pavilion then
**(Entire AP is unstable na, I don’t even know who is governing to be able to pin the blame also, so you have to bear it)
Today in AP; 2mrw in Telangana; thatz my fate nw
Ha ha ha … I know
wow, it just pep’s up my mood, when I read your posts!!!
Thanks a lot and am glad if it so
Oh it does
Its such a jolly one, for the hardly “happy me” these days:)
Oh pretty lady in a pretty saree, y say that
Wishing great fun to your parents, sis and on the other side your Inlwas for their upcoming trip!!!!!
Thank u
We do need our time off no? I hv it all the time though … so, never end up cribbing
I secretly wish it was the same from my side and I get to be with my Hubby only for few days ( wink, cruel meee)
Aww there’s nothing cruel abt it
About the Maid part, it hardly surprises me these days, since these ladies will never learn a lesson…It was almost similar case for the previous maid my mom had and we had to use all our mental energy to convince her to be strong and rude to her husband…he once stole his daughter’s gold ear-rings to buy himself a bottle of cheap drink..How SICK!
SHEESHHH! Thatz heights!
congrats on winning the passes
the second maid seems to have taken the right decision, smart she is..unlike your maid..i just wish god drives some sense into her head soon
Thanks
And I hope so too
So, u r ani_aset too
After hvng seen that name on so many blogs, badly wanted to check out the blog and found it led to ur blog too
hehe
where did you get to know me is ani_aset?
On all blogs on blogspot if am nt wrong
Wow Swaram….I love your Header!!!! Lovely sight for the eyes
And congrats on winning the tickets girl. Enjoy your evening with Shaan
Thanks Homey
Congrats for the passes Swaram.. I am sure u and Su will have loads of fun @ the concert..
Last year, Shaan came for one of our company’s events and all of us had a great time listening to his songs
Oh wow Mystery .. cool company there
So, u got a chance to take his autograph n al that eh
Nope..there was loads of people rushing towards the dias all i could do hear and enjoy the songs
Oh ok .. that ws the important part anyways no
Nice
So one more concert haa, anyways have fun
…….Its really good 2 hear your parents are having fun in there own way.
P.S : I always had weird experience with house maids (no matter in chennai or kerala, if you want them to stay with u , you have to serve them badly). So don’t want to comment about that.Probably her husband need some counseling.
Thanks Anish
LOL eh, I remember reading ur maid-adventures
They torture u more than them being tortured by their men no
Ya … some sense hs to be driven into his non-sense brain
beautiful header
and that’s how life is …sumtimes fair and sumtimes unfair…
Thanks Dew .. hmm u r rt
Lovely header…COngratulation for the tickets. I love Shaan…he is a such a simple and down to earth fellow. Life is Fair, if you make it fair for yourself. Please do something for your maid. I feel so sorry for her condition.
Love
Thanks Nids .. I feel the same abt him too
Ya, I so wanna pull her out of this one
Oh a many-in-one post again!
For starters congratulations on winning your passes. Will look forward to reading about the concert
On your maids perspective-yes it is going to take another century for some mind-sets to change. But can you blame her when so many of the educated class behave in the same manner.
And I really admire the other maid you wrote about. It takes a strong woman to take a stand like her. I only wish there were more of them.
Ya, when I cannot get anything else to write abt, I do these random kinda posts
The concert ws cool Hypermom .. thanks a lot
Ya u r rt … so many so called educated ppl behave so
Indeed strong to be confident of taking care of herself n the kids on her own
Some sort of support is necessary to give the woman courage to walk out.
Hmm very true!
